Mission
The mission of the South African Numismatic Library is to:
"Preserve and share knowledge about South African coinage and currency, making it accessible to collectors, researchers, and enthusiasts worldwide."
We aim to provide accurate, comprehensive, and practical information for collectors at every level—from beginners to specialists.
Methodology
Each page is built using a consistent research framework:
- Primary sources: Official mint records, government archives, museum collections.
- Standard references: Hern, Levine, Krause, Friedberg.
- Auction archives: Heritage, Noonans, Spink, London Coins, Noble Numismatics.
- Verification: Cross‑referencing multiple independent sources.
- Currency: Regular updates to incorporate new discoveries and market data.
All information is cited, and where uncertainty exists, we clearly note the debate.
