1948 South Africa 2 Shilling (PF 65)
R3 240,00
A gem-grade proof florin from the Union of South Africa, certified PF 65. Struck in .800 silver and bearing King George VI on the obverse, the 1948 issue marks a quiet milestone — it’s among the first South African coins to drop “IMPERATOR” from the royal title, reflecting Britain’s loss of India in 1947. The 1947 proof was the last year carrying the IMPERATOR title. The reverse carries the Union coat-of-arms shield design. Proof strikes from this era were produced in very limited numbers, and an example surviving in PF 65 — with clean mirrored fields and sharp devices — is a genuinely desirable piece for any Union-era or George VI collection.
