Overview
1892 South Africa Penny (MS 64 BN) — a pre-Union coin struck during the era of the Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek (ZAR), the Boer republic that preceded the modern South African state. ZAR coinage was struck at the Pretoria Mint between 1892 and 1902 and is highly collectible today as the first indigenous South African coinage.
Design
The obverse features the portrait of President Paul Kruger; the reverse carries the ZAR coat of arms with the wagon and lion.
